Welcome to Bay People Inc.

Dear Bay People supporters, residents and friends,

We wanted to give you a brief information on the status of Zoning Appeal at the Department of Buildings and the Preliminary Injunction Appeal.

  • Department of Buildings finally issued an opinion on June 7, 2011 and denied our zoning challenge but told us how many pounds in a gallon. The positive in this news is that we are now free to appeal to Board of Standards and Appeals ("BSA") within 30 days. The BSA is the highest appellate body within the Department of Buildings and can interpret the zoning statutes in more detail.
  • The Judgment by Kings County Supreme Court Judge Mark Portnow denying our request for a preliminary injunction was entered on May 31, 2011. Click here to learn more about Ejaculation Guru As you may remember we were requesting the halt the construction while the Zoning Challenge (see above) is active. The preliminary injunction was denied in the face of plaintiffs affidavits, expert reports and countless violations, illegal excavation, and lies by Allowey Ahmed and the mosque builders. We are going to appeal this decision and will file for a motion to re-argue the case before the same Judge.
This fight is far from over and we as homeowners and residents of this community will employ every possible avenue to ensure that this peaceful and quiet residential street remains just that-RESIDENTIAL.

Thank you all for your support! As you know the legal process is lengthy and we need to keep collecting money to sustain the fight. Further contributions to our cause can be made online via PayPal (www.BayPeople.org) or by sending a check or money order payable to:

Bay People Inc. is a New York based organization that was created by a group of Sheepshead Bay residents with a goal of protecting quality of life in our residential neighborhood. Bay People is not affiliated with any political party and our activists do not share common religion, race or heritage.

All of our activists are volunteers and we welcome every resident who wants to participate.

Our first neighborhood project is to stop a construction of an over sized mosque/community center at 2812 Voorhies Ave that is set to replace a quiet residential home.

Elected officials and Community Board 15 have dismissed our quality of life concerns for "political correctness." The proposed construction encroaches on our rights to privacy, health, safety and is an intrusive, unreasonable interference with the use and enjoyment of our properties. Religion cannot and will not be an excuse for zoning violations and inappropriate development, and we will not be the "silent majority."

Bay People is a voice for thousands of property owners and residents of Sheepshead Bay who are simply trying to preserve their quiet residential existence, protect their property values, and peace of mind."
